Moorpark
Community Lot · San José, Caldas
- Roast approach: A dense, full-bodied washed lot (11.3% moisture), a slightly longer, gentle development phase helps carry through the brown-sugar and roasted-almond sweetness without flattening the stone-fruit and blueberry brightness. Works well from light-medium through medium.
- Lot-to-lot consistency: As a community blend from multiple smallholder farms rather than one estate, expect small natural variation between deliveries, worth a quick cup on arrival before locking in a fixed profile.
About this Coffee
Moorpark is a community-blend lot from the San José cooperative, within the wider Anserma, Caldas coffee-growing area, the same western-Andean district that also includes Risaralda, Belalcázar and Viterbo, at altitudes broadly between 1,200 and 1,800 masl.
The name is borrowed from Moorpark, a classic, richly-flavored apricot cultivar: a fitting match for this lot's dried-apricot, stone-fruit and roasted-almond character (apricot and almond are close botanical relatives, and apricot kernels themselves taste of almond).
Rather than coming from one finca, it combines washed Caturra, Castillo and Typica cherries from multiple smallholder producers in the area into a single, consistently processed lot: a reliable option for a clean, fruity, nutty cup profile typical of this part of Caldas.
