“HE THAT PLANTS TREES, LOVES OTHERS BESIDES HIMSELF.”

BRING BACK NATIVE TREES
At Team Don Edgar, we embarked on our BBNT project with a profound awareness of the pressing challenges posed by climate change and global warming. Our unwavering commitment is to support the dedicated coffee growers in the lush landscapes of the Colombian Coffee belt. Together, we are dedicated to the vital task of restoring the natural habitats and ecosystems of the very farms that produce the rich coffees we all know and love.
Our mission is clear: we seek to foster social, economic, and environmental sustainability for all the hardworking agriculturists who form the beating heart of our enterprise. In our pursuit of this vision, we firmly believe that planting indigenous trees represents the most potent response to the disintegration of biodiversity, which, left unchecked, leads us down a perilous path towards the current climate crisis.
Join us in our journey to not only safeguard the exquisite flavors of Colombian coffee but also to protect the planet for generations to come. Together, we can make a difference—one tree at a time.”
Explore Finca La Divisa – an exceptional coffee farm boasting native trees, organic farming, and abundant biodiversity. A total of 54 distinct bird species have been identified in this thriving ecosystem.
At Nursery Finca San Rafael, our cherished collection of native trees paints a vibrant tapestry of biodiversity. Among the many species nurtured here, you’ll find the stately Cambulo, the resplendent Guayacanes, the whimsical Comino Crespo, the elegant Cedro Negro and Rosado, the majestic Barrocimo, the rhythmic Tambor, the sturdy Piedro, the enchanting Ojo de Venado, the timeless Laureles, the spirited Mestizo, the enduring Algarrobo, the delightful Guayabo, the graceful Chumbimba, the vibrant Dulumoco, the sturdy Balso, and the towering Yarumos.
In the company of these native wonders, we proudly cultivate the venerable Saman, the regal Casco de Buey, the steadfast Otobo, the golden Cañofistulo, the gracious Guamo, the charming Vahinillo, the noble Roble, the blooming Gualanday, the vibrant Leucaena, and the evergreen Pino Colombiano.
“WE ARE THE FIRST GENERATION TO BE ABLE TO END POVERTY, AND THE LAST GENERATION THAT CAN TAKE STEPS TO AVOID THE WORST IMPACTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE. FUTURE GENERATIONS WILL JUDGE US HARSHLY IF WE FAIL TO UPHOLD OUR MORAL AND HISTORICAL RESPONSIBILITIES.”
— Ban Ki-moon
Our project begins with a strong emphasis on education, open communication, and meaningful collaboration. We extend an invitation to the coffee producers in Colombia, with whom we proudly source our specialty coffee, to participate in our initiative.
Upon registration, we embark on a journey to the coffee farm, working closely with the producer to create a tailored plan. Together, we assess the land and determine the optimal locations for tree planting, as well as the required quantities. The nurturing and care of the seeds and trees become a shared responsibility, strengthening our bond with the producer.
In the event that available space on the farm is limited, we’ve thought ahead. We’ve set aside a dedicated plot of land on our very own San Rafael farm, ensuring that our commitment to this project knows no bounds.
