Jailer Trujillo, hailing from Planadas, Tolima, takes immense pride in his humble origins as a peasant. He is a steadfast guardian of his family’s well-being and the welfare of his community. His household comprises his wife and two children, all of whom actively participate in daily activities and decision-making.
In 2014, he and his wife made a life-altering decision to acquire the La Esperanza farm and commit to this profession for a lifetime. A couple of years ago, driven by both his Adventist faith and deep reverence for the environment, Jailer transitioned to producing entirely natural coffee, dried with the husk. He ceased pulping coffee cherries, a transformative step that not only conserved thousands of liters of water but also prevented the contamination of river basins with leachate waste. As a result, milling became redundant, and he now ferments coffee in bags, sun-drying it under canopies.
La Esperanza farm, spanning 2 hectares, is thoughtfully divided into three distinct lots dedicated to various coffee varieties: Tabi, Gesha, Pink Bourbon, Cenicafe, Castillo, and San Bernardo. In the 2022 harvest, the farm’s diligent efforts yielded an impressive production of 20,000 kilograms of Natural Coffee, meticulously dried with the husk intact
