Bogotá, March 3, 2022 (FNC Press Office)- In February, the registered production of coffee in Colombia, the world’s largest producer of washed mild Arabica, was 928,000 60-kg bags of green coffee, down 16% – as a result of persistent unfavorable weather conditions – from 1.1 million bags produced in February 2021.
So far this year, production reached 1.8 million bags, down 18% from the almost 2.2 million bags produced a year earlier, and so far this coffee year (October 2021-February 2022), production exceeded 5.3 million bags, down 19% from the over 6.5 million bags produced in the same previous period.
In the last 12 months (March 2021-February 2022), registered production fell 13% to almost 12.2 million 60-kg bags from over 14 million bags produced a year earlier.
Coffee exports fall 23% in February
In February, Colombian coffee exports fell 23% to 980,000 60-kg bags of green coffee from almost 1.3 million bags exported in February 2021.
So far this year, coffee exports fell 14% to just over 2 million bags from over 2.3 million bags exported a year earlier.
In the last 12 months (March 2021-February 2022), coffee exports fell 5% to 12.1 million bags of 60 kg from over 12.7 million bags exported in the same previous period.
And in the coffee year (October 2021–February 2022), exports exceeded 5.3 million 60-kg bags, down 11% from the almost 6 million bags exported a year earlier.
