Hannah's Choice — Washed Caturra

Relationship Coffee — El Caney Estate

SCA Score: 85.0
Sensory Experience
Red Apple Hazelnut Sugar Cane Nougat
"The definition of a balanced Colombian cup. Crisp red apple acidity meets a comforting hazelnut and nougat sweetness. Clean, creamy, and remarkably consistent."
🔥 Roaster's Insight
  • The "Workhorse": This Caturra has excellent heat stability. It is forgiving in the roaster and perfect as a consistent Single Origin or the backbone of a house blend.
  • Maillard Phase: Don't rush the middle phase. Extending Maillard slightly will amplify the Hazelnut notes and build a syrupy mouthfeel essential for espresso.
  • Finish: A medium development brings out the classic Sugar Cane sweetness. Takes dark roasts well without turning ashy.

About this Coffee

Hannah's Choice is a tribute to consistency and family tradition. Sourced from the high-altitude plots of El Caney Estate (1650m), this lot is managed by Gustavo Zuluaga, a third-generation coffee grower.

Unlike our experimental microlots, this coffee is designed for drinkability. Gustavo employs a classic 24-hour washed protocol to ensure a cup that is clean, sweet, and structurally sound year after year. It represents the classic profile of the Risaralda region at its very best.
